About

History

I first got into photography with the addition of my much loved Maine Coon cat Tyke. We had so much fun documenting his adventures. I soon found myself taking pictures of all sorts of interesting things, from landscape to macro. However animals were always my passion.

A few years on, we have expanded our menagerie to include Lola, our affectionate Rottweiler, and my camera and lens collection as well. My camera goes just about everywhere with me.

About

I have now returned to Dunedin, where I live with my wife and son, 2 cats and dog. We often frequent the harbour or beaches around Dunedin, and enjoy photographing the seals and sea birds. I am a web developer by trade, a natural pairing for a photographer. My other passions include smoking meat, fishing and technology. I gain great pleasure from sharing my skills with others, usually offering to take pictures of other dogs Lola has sought out to play with.

I am also a member of the Dunedin photographic society, a great way to improve my technique and enjoy great photography from our fabulous environment.

Philosophy

There is an addage "the best camera is the one you have on you", therefore I strive to have my best camera always within reach. This has served me well capturing suprise visits from NZ falcons to Tuis and more. Most weekends I am out in nature, enjoying the beach, or the hills around Dunedin. This gives me the opportunity to share my passion with others, as mentioned above capturing images of other's beloved pets and sharing them. I prefer to capture a moment rather than manufacture an image. I also let my photos speak for themselves, a good image doesn't need its own narrative, or to be explained.
